Building on work in Arba Minch, AE is launching a new sewing skills training project in Mekele, a city recovering from conflict. Many Ethiopian women face hardship, resorting to prostitution or dangerous work like collecting firewood. In partnership with local churches, this five-year initiative will train 30 Ethiopian women each year with vocational skills and practical support, helping them to break free from poverty and provide for their families.
In 2024, we equipped 30 women in the city of Arba Minch with sewing and business skills, empowering them to start businesses, improve their livelihoods and reduce their reliance on dangerous work. Now we are looking to Mekele, which is the capital of the Tigray region and has been deeply affected by war in recent years. With your support, we can empower these women in their vocational training and provide hope for a brighter future.
