Official estimates claim roughly 2.4 million people living in rural Malawi are without access to a safe water source, but the actual number may be twice as high – largely due to increasingly non-functional water points and a rapidly growing population. According to the latest UNICEF report, water-borne diarrhoeal diseases are the second biggest killer of children under 5 years in Malawi. (PumpAid 2019)

African Enterprise is committed to holistic and transformative social action programs which demonstrate the love of Christ to vulnerable and marginalised communities.

The town of Nathenje has a population of 1,959 and has little to no access to clean and safe water. African Enterprise saw the need and our generous donors answered the call! A school in Queensland fully funded the project for the Nathenje borehole which will give all of its inhabitants access to clean and safe water! Almost 2,000 lives transformed by one school’s generous gift!

We expect the outcomes to be 3 fold:

1. The community to be free from water-borne diseases due to the use of clean and safe water
2. The ability for community members to participate in development activities because they will not be spending time travelling to find clean water
3. Children will attend school regularly as they are free from water-borne illnesses

We can all make a difference in the lives of those in Africa!
