The Vocational Skills Training in Tailoring for Vulnerable Women project in Lusaka, Zambia, empowers 24 women, including widows, ex-sex workers, and women living with disabilities, by providing six months of hands-on training in tailoring, home economics, and entrepreneurship. The project equips participants with practical skills, sewing machines, and mentorship to start their own businesses, fostering financial independence and reducing vulnerability to exploitation. Alongside vocational training, beneficiaries receive counselling and support to address trauma, ensuring they can fully engage in learning and personal growth.
Implemented by African Enterprise Zambia in partnership with local churches, community leaders, and organisations, the project also strengthens Community Transformation Groups (CTGs). These groups provide ongoing social and economic support, helping women sustain their businesses, share skills, and contribute to community development. Through monitoring, mentoring, and reporting, the program ensures measurable impact, enabling participants to transform their lives while inspiring broader community change.
