Her Story:
Ruth, a young woman from Apam in Ghana’s Central Region, has always been passionate about food, nutrition, and the culinary arts. Despite hoping to study Food and Nutrition in senior high school, she was placed in Clothing and Textiles instead.
After completing Senior High School in 2024, financial difficulties prevented her from continuing to tertiary education, leaving her unsure of how to pursue her dreams.
Living with her sister in Fetteh Kakraba, Ruth’s hopes were rekindled when she discovered African Enterprise’s Baking and Soap‑making Training Programme. It was an opportunity that was practical, affordable, and perfectly aligned with her passion.
“I don’t know what would’ve become of me if I hadn’t enrolled,” Ruth shared. “I’ve always loved baking, but I couldn’t afford any training. Thanks to AE’s program, now. I’m learning to bake and also make detergents, floor cleaners, and bleach. I am so grateful.”
Today, Ruth is rediscovering her passion with renewed confidence. The skills she is gaining have opened multiple income opportunities and given her a clear sense of direction, proof that even when dreams are delayed, the right opportunity can bring them back to life.
